In the Canada sub-forum, I was laughing at the mental picture of Yellzee running in his sugar bush with a helmet on collecting his sap and getting the heck out of there because of the high winds we had a few days ago.
I commented that it would be great if webcams were attached to us crazy people for the general public to see what we go through to make this stuff.
Anyway, thought it would be fun if everyone told their funny stories while making syrup. Any home videos would be great too!
I'll start - today was an icy but squishy muddy mess. Carried 2 full 5-gallon buckets up the hill and yes, you guessed it, slipped & dropped both buckets. Lids fell off and sap ran down the hill. I just sat on the sopping wet ground watching the sap as it coursed its way down the icy crevices. Sigh
Also slid down my driveway (but stayed on my 2 feet) to collect the sap on my driveway trees. Picture downhill skiier, but carrying 2 empty 5gal buckets instead of poles.
So let's hear your stories. What's the funniest thing that's happened to you in this crazy hobby?!
