It is 60 this evening in vermont. Sap has been running great for the last 30hrs. Just checked the line into tank and it is running a heavy yellow color? Was clear 2 hrs ago. What is causing this and is this the end for the season?
Metabolic changes in the tree may be causing the color change. And only Mother Nature can say when the trees are done. Are they budding out? Maples are mostly budded out here in central MA.

The reds have really budded out here, sugars not yet.
Dude, our reds arent close to budding yet, at least 2 more weeks..where in VT are you, must be as southern as possible

10 minutes west of Rutland. A moderate western slope sugarbush.

I collected sap today and some buckets had a yellowish look and since I have a barrel setup to boil on I was wondering when others had this condition did the sap have any off taste to it.I just don't want to boil and find out it's not good.I guess I could boil a small batch and see but what have others done.

From my experience, the sap begins to turn yellow as the weather warms up for extended periods of time, and will result in a darker syrup. Flavour still ok, but darker in colour.
Hope that helps
