Wacky Weather

Is anyone out there concerned about this year's weather? This entire winter has been virtually non-existant and now things are warming up really fast. I've been doing this for 10 years now and my experience is that when it gets this warm in early March, the season is very short and poor for syrup production. It looks like next week temps will be near 60 deg again. We have mostly red maples on a south facing slope so I'm glad I tapped during the third week of February despite what others caution against.

Any thoughts?

I tapped on February 18th and am really glad I did. With hindsight, left it a few days too late.

Yup I'm pretty sure it will be over by the middle of next week here. I tapped in a few days before the blizzard and wish I would have a week or so before that. Two of the big producer tapped in last Friday and are not real happy right now.

Had I not doubled my taps, we'd be in dire straits. I hate to wave the white flag this early and hopefully the forecast changes but it's not looking good.
