Worth Tapping?

Just got permission to tap 2 huge sugar maples ( gotta be 3 Feet in dia., not circumfrance. huge crowns) Think its too late to tap these?
( Definately next year!) Was thinking of putting in 2 taps each. Small time backyarder. Hoping for last run. Any thoughts?

I have a HUGE sugar on my property, its got a 6 ft diameter main trunk minimum with a split that has 2 secondaries that are 3-4 footers. Its in the top 10 largest trees i have ever seen in new england. As large as it is you would think is would just pour sap out but it is actually one of the worst producers I have! Not really sure why, maybe its just an old girl not willing to give it up anymore. As a side note and a hint to its size, one of the largest branches broke last year, it heated my house for a month this "winter".

Go for it though! Hopefully you get better results than I do!
