hey all,

i know this is for homemade equip.. but i found a "lighting" arch with a galvanized pan? is galvanized safe, and is 850 a fare price for a used arch. im told its in great shape, and no leaks, i think the guy said it was 20yr + maybe in age....

any advise would be great, im thinking of getting new pans, since i can work with copper i thought i could make my own. comments?

well, theoreticaly galvinized is just a zinc coating which cant hurt you so i dont see how it could be bad other than it just seems dirty. if the arch is in good shape it sounds well worth it, and you could still afford some new pans, i think zinc melts at around 900 degrees so if you scorch those babies you may have a rust problem in the near future.

pretty sure galvanized pans for boiling are a no no.
