I am interested in a 5x10 flue evaporator with a piggyback unit that is for sale. I was wondering what size syrup evaporator would I need to go with that. I have a 2.5 x 8 evaporator that I thought of putting 4 cross flow pans on to go with it. Would this work or would I need something with a larger surface area?

if you looking to buy a 5x10 flue pan..i think most are 5x14 with both pans. so a 5x4 syrup pan. what are you trying to do with the 2.5x8?

That would probably work then. 5x4 is 20 square feet of area and 2.5 x8 is the same. I was thinking of putting 4- 2X2.5 cross flow pans on the 2.5 x 8 and making that my syrup evaporator. I would set them up so the output on the 5x10 went right into the float box of the 2.5 x8.

okay, then that should work. you should be able to finish the syrup on the big rig if it is a continous flow so i dont know hom much you would really need the 2.5x8? but could still work.

The 5x10 would have to be all flue but with an ro and steam away I would b worried about making syrup to soon and burning up one of the pans
