I picked up a used 42" x 24" cross flow pan and plan to use it (in the wrong orientation) on my block arch. Here is a sketch of how I plan to set it up. I am wondering if i will have issues setting up gradient as the sap will start over the firebox, travel up and down the flue and then over the fire box once more before being drawn off. Any experiences with similiar set ups or general throughts/comments are greatly appreciated.

I do have an IR so I can watch monitor surface temps.

Nope that should work fine. I know Bascom's always points out large cross flows can work for hobby setups just like that.

That's where I got this one from. I am considering modifying this as a drop flue pan for next year and get a seperate syrup pan, but that is all in the future.
