Phaneuf High Efficiency Compact Flue Pan

Wondering if anyone is boiling this season on one. It is the 2x4 pan that has a 30" flue section with 10 7" drop flues. Also, thought I saw somewhere that someone is selling equipment for him in NY.

Ren, I saw on his website it is advertised as a high efficiency compact flue pan then I see the 2x4 pro deluxe and I assume this is a different flue pan. I am on my 2nd year on a custom 2 in 1 he built for me and I get around 15 gph as he said I would. This effiviency one he is advertising says 25 to 30 gph. What is your flue pan like as far as number and depth of flues and your boil rate. Thanks.

There are 10 flues, 7" long and 3/4" wide. The pan flue pan is 24" x 30" and I am averaging around 25 gph with good dry wood. I think I could get a little more out of it if I could come up with a better pre heater setup.

Sounds like the same flue pan but the deluxe pro includes the finishing pans. Was the float box and all valves and connection piping included in your package price

I'm finding this kind of interesting.........so he calls it a high efficiency because it has 10, 7" deep flues? This is the standard set up for Smokey Lake Maple products(which I just picked up in a 2x6, 4ft flue).

Yes float box and all fitting were included in the price. The only thing that was not was the dial thermometers.

jmayerl, I think he uses the term high efficiency because it is a 2x4 and most to 2x4 pans are far from that. Congrats on the new 2x6. Jim makes a nice set of pans too!

Ren, How much sap do you need for startup and when you got sap in pan, to restart boiling to make it worth firing up.

I have been running it at 1.5" deep. So it takes approx 12gal of sap to get it to that depth. Then I like to have at least 100 gal of sap to fire it up.

Ren, what's the valve in the far lower back side coming out of the side of the arch? Is that draining your flues? How does that work?

Yes, that is the drain for the flues. It is attached to a square piece of tubing that runs along the bottom of the flues at the very back. The tubing has a half coupling welded to it. Then there is a 1" stainless nipple that is 5" long and a valve.

I am boiling on one of his 2in1 pans it is 2x5 boils very good about 20-25 gallons an hour. It has a float and drain for the flues. The great construction. I am thinking of upgradeing if someone wanted to buy one.
