View Full Version : 2 taps, 1 tree, 1 hole wet 1 hole dry, why????
about 8" off the ground my Maple tree splits in to 3 trunks . two out of the three have a better than 20" diameter, so I taped both of the bigger trunks. The one on the north side has been producing well for me, but the one on the south side is dry as a bone. Any clue why this is, and is there anything I can do about it???

I noticed the same thing today out of a group of two large trees. I figured one was running earlier.

It's just the nurture of the beast! All you can do is wait. If there is I tap in the tree and if it is in fact a maple it WILL run!!!

sometimes you hit a dead spot in the tree. Or you may just have to wait.
UPDATE
That hole sat dry for over two weeks. two days after I posted this the sap started flowing. Go figure :)
