I'm finding a huge difference in taps I've placed on the south side of a tree vs. those on the north side of the same tree. I usually have 2 (sometimes 3) times as much sap in the tap on the southern side of the tree.

I would expect trees with southerly exposure to do better than ones without, but I was surprised to see such a difference on the same tree.

Guess I'll have to put my taps on the same side of the tree next year.

the south side does run better and sooner, but the north side runs longer and later. thats what i have found.

the problem with doing this is that eventually after many years you will have clustered your tapholes in the same area. Cant see as how this would be good
