I got all caught up yesterday morning and scrubbed everything down just in time. I gathered 425 gal of sap at 9am and at 6:30 went back out and got another 4:25 and couldn't even get it all. That's all on 1,000 taps.
I would say that that is a pretty good run, and to think I am happy collecting 25 gallons from bucket trees!

Keep that syrup coming, crawflyer:)
I only have a couple of taps in but have been getting flows I can't complain about. Since Feb 3 I've been averaging about 1.5G/tap/day.Some days it doesn't flow at all and other days it just won't quit. Had a spell where they ran for 3 days straight last week. The night flows have been the most productive of all.
Last year was such a terrific one I wasn't expecting much this year, especially with the weird warm winter we've had. I'm glad I was wrong and now wish I'd thrown in a few more taps. I'm going to do that today and hopefully we'll still have a little bit more sugaring season left.

Just curious on your evaporator with a 17x32 syrup pan and a 17 x 92 flue pan?? Weirdest size I have ever heard of but it ought to be efficient?? That works out to a 17" x almost 11' long??

3000 gallons of sap on 600 taps on high vacuum from Thursday morning through right now (60 hours) - and that's with it slowing down beginning last night.
Had a similar run last week.

5572yeah..it is kinda odd looking. However, in reading you post I realized I put down some wrong info. the length of the flue pan is in fact 60", the overall is 92". I converted a wood stove for my arch and you are right, it is very efficient. without any preheat for my sap I get 30+ gph. the flames seem to really like that narrow flue path as I get a very hard boil right to the stack.5571
