frozen sap in buckets. keep it or toss it ? I've heard it both ways and was wondering what the maple traders majority thinks..

Wcproctor is right. Natural RO. If you are a very small hobbyist then it may be worth keeping it. However, ice has a VERY low sugar content and may not be worth boiling. Good luck and welcome to The Trader!

i am taking all the big ice out of my tank now and putting it in another tank and letting it melt, then im gonna mesure the sugar content and see if there is any in there. ill let you know when it ments.

With buckets, some sugar will concentrate in the middle of the ice, but a natural RO. I like to keep ice in the resevoirs (I'm all lines) as the sap does not spoil as fast on warm days. This time of year: scoop out the yellowish ice in the middle, add rum and voila! A maple slushie!
