Can I use the stuby's without the cv's? I was going to set up vac and use cv's but ran out of time to set up vac , Installed new tubing with stubbys and I dont know if I want to use the cv's on gravity. Im new to tubing and learning as I go, so any advise will help thanks.

I think the steeper angle on the stubbies won't hold as well in the tree.
Why wouldn't you go with C/Vs. They have been proven to be beneficial even on gravity. Not a big difference, but a positive one.

They are not made to go directly into the tree. If you decide to do that, you might as well shoot every tree with a 12 gauge slug so you can put the stubby in.They make the cv's without the ball, which will serve the same purpose as a health spout.

Use the 5/16" adapters without C/V's. They cost about 10 cents less than the C/V's and are not needed with gravity tubing.

Thanks for all advice I kinda thought stubs weren't made to go into the tree. I already have the cv's so I'm just gonna go with them. I have heard that they can gum up without vac and the ball will stick later in the season. Should I take out the ball? Sap season only comes once a year and I don't want big problems.

from what i've heard, you should leave the ball in. or just buy bag of the regular 5/16 stubby adapters and save the cv's for next year.

I'll just get a bag 5/16 adapters. I'm going to vac next year so I'll save the cv's thanks.
