Leader has a description. http://www.leaderevaporator.com/p-283-steam-away.aspx
I once saw a pdf with pics and everything on google about it.

If someone could explain where the steam pipes go I think we could make one.

Isn't the "steamaway" patented by Leader...

If that is the case then copying it without a license/agreement with them is not legal?

I have not looked that up but have been told they can only go after you if you sell, not if you use it yourself. Someone on here built a copy, but I can not remember who.

I suspect that what you wrote is just a matter of logistics - it is not really enforceable to find someone who has copied for their own use.

I'm not an attorney, but I would imagine that asking for designs of a patented object with clear plans on making one so as not to have to buy it MIGHT be crossing the line...

I am not trying to stifle innovation or home building. The initial question was fine. But the apparent impatient follow up of, "anyone?" in less than 10 hours irked me for some reason. (As if people have nothing better to do than post designs of leader's patent on this forum.) There are also plenty of conventional preheater designs and pictures around the site.

Again - I am ignorant of patent law, but showing/uploading the design might cause trouble for maple trader...

Try this thread for more information. It's not an easy thing to build...

I am not sure leader owns the patent. Apparently there is an old patent and then a newer one in 1990 that leader may be licensing.

Go to http://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid...w=1280&bih=600
Look for Piggy back evaporating for maple syrup evaporator ... - Google
This is for a piggyback but the seam away is the same.

If their patent is the one listed above, it expired almost 2 years ago and the public is free to use those teachings.
