My RO uses 2.5 x 20 pre filters. My order apparently got lost and I need a re order. Checking in the local plumbing supply house I find the right type filter but in 10". 10" is likely really 9 7/8 since the 20" is really 19 7/8. Has anyone ever tried stacking 2 filters? Did it work? Did you use something to take up the extra 1/8", a neoprene washer or something, maybe even a heavy felt washer. Am I the only one crazy enough to think of this?

I think it should work. But if your canister is opaque blue like ours, you won't know. I'd be tempted to put in a think hard disc with a hole in the center, hopefully to keep it all straight and parallel instead of cocking off to one side. You could just pick up another whole house filter from Home Depot I saw some 20" filters at TSC too.

I would think that there would be someone close to you that has some filters that you could either borrow or buy from them. Being nearly every sugarmaker with 2000 or more taps has a RO, I would have to believe someone has one. If you were closer to me I would reach into the 5 cases we have and let you have what you need.

I would be nervous that the two did not line up perfectly and let something by.

If you try the 2 10" filters you could wrap the joint where they meet with food grade duct tape. Seriously though if I were in your situation I would use extra elastics on the cloth wrap if you use those like I do and carefully place them into the canister.

Dave, I've got some if you're in a pinch. I live 20 minutes west of Syracuse but will be in the 'Cuse Monday. Joe from Atlantic RO can have a case to you within a day but shipping will be more expensive. Regular shipping would probably have them to you by mid week.

Dave, do Links have any? Surely they use them and are close. Mine uses two 20", and has a special adapter that goes between. Seen them for sale somewhere recently.
