I have a cone filter and haven't really figured out a good way of using it. How do I set my filter up so it will filter the syrup and catch it as well? My filter doesn't have the four rings around the top edge like the others I've seen. There should be something out there that has a small enough "neck" for me to fold over the top of the filter and enough space to catch a gallon or two of syrup below. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

it sounds like you have a paper filter that goes inside the wool or orlon filter. the wool filters have the loops at the top and the paper filter goes inside and helps your wool filter not get clogged up fast and catch some debris before the wool filter.

Generally this becomes a 2 person operation if you don't have those loops. Pour off in to a pail of some sort and then pour through your cone filter into something nice and clean. Remember to keep those filters hot and wet for best results. dry filters don't do squat.

I use flat filters, but we use metal springy clips (that they sell at office supply stores to hold sheet of paper together) to hold the filters in place while running hot syrup through them.
