I had some buckets with 1 inch of ice with gallon of liquid.
Should I melt the ice? Or filter it out since it is water and the sugar is now more concentrated.
Thanks

I always toss the ice in buckets. It's nature's way of removing water in sap.
Ice has a low sugar content and can be tossed unless you are worried about overall volume of sap collected. Good luck!

I melted down ice from buckets last weekend and ended up with 15 gal of water. Checked 2 different 5 gal buckets of it and they both were 0.5%.

I’ve taken to just leaving the ice in the buckets, helps keep the sap cool on warmer days.
I tend to throw some in the main holding tank for the same reason.

That's why I said: "low sugar content". VERY low! :)

-So loose in from the sap bucket. I have sap/syrup in the pan, not enought to draw off yet. froze up last night with the cold, you think i should peel this ice off too? anyone?
