ive heard reference to booster tank . what is it and in what app would they be used?

The term booster is a bit of a misnomer, they should be called vac transfer tanks. One example would be running 500' of 1" pipe to a point where three 3/4" pipes come to one spot. If there are alot of taps to this point you might get poor vacuum levels in all the lines because space in the pipe is taken up by sap. Instead of just joining them together with fittings you could use the vac transfer tank to connect them and also run a dry line from the releaser to the transfer tank, putting full vacuum at the juncture. There could be some improvement by just using the tank at the juncture, but not as much as with the dry line addition.
