I recently purchased a new Polaris Ranger 800 HD and I am trying to figure out a container to get the sap back to the sugar shack. My big cage container is to big, and my 55 gallon drum rachet straped in doesn't really thrill me. Any guys with rangers or kubotas RTVs have any suggestions. Thanks Ryan

i have a 700 xp ranger that i put a 210 gallon truck poly tank in, i put it on a pallet that i lift out and put in the back of my truck with a forklift. my ranger hauls this up a steep and muddy hill, did i say steep i meant very steep, it is over 500 yards up before it turns on a switchback logging road. it is close to 1 mile to my farthest tap. today i had between 100-110 gallons in the tank and myself and a friend coming down the hill and even in the mud i could stop it cold. i put one strap on the back of the tank and pull it real tight, i have hauled over 1000 lbs of lime and fertilizer in the back over that hill so i am used to it. if you go slow your 800 will handle this easily, boo on jd.

Boo on JD? Nooooo! :) I have a 275 that fits perfectly in the back of my Gator. Can't fill it all the way obviously ( close to a ton full). You really can't boo the JD; its got a 50 horse 3-cylinder car engine. Right mapleME?

I use a 65 gallon poly tank in my Ranger 6x6 and it works well. You may not be trilled with your 55 gallon drum but really once it's full that's over 500lb on weight so you have to consider how much weight you want to be hauling around especially when the ground gets soft and the ruts start coming.

not sure how fast they are but i have had my 700 xp up to 57mph. not real concerned with speed but i have not found a machine that will out haul, out pull or outrun it. the can am will outrun it but no way that machine will stand up to the abuse a polaris will. a kubotadisel may out haul but have fun going 20. if some other manufacter's machine will stand up the abuse i put mine thru i would be suprised, but hey it is no different than ford vs chevy,of course everybody nows that bowties rule. by the way the new gator is can-am, or is it artic cat and bobocats are polaris.

Thanks for the suggestions, I am happy with my Ranger, wouldn't even consider a gator. I can haul a 1000 lbs and with my self leveling suspension and it rides like there is nothing in the bed. Booo the JD!!!!

Well, I disagree. I paid quite a bit for my two 65 poly tanks with legs, but this was only after trying to get away with cheaper methods and just realizing, sometimes just paying the price saves you a world of headache. and believe me, Im all for being creative and not paying a great deal for something... In this case it was worth the money to me for NEW tanks with nice valves, that don't roll around and never had anything else in them and that fit perfect. Oh and had lashing points for ratchet straps. I do agree they are crazy expensive. But sometimes its worth it to do it right either the first time or after you learned your lesson. You will have many of these situations in sugaring my friend. Its all part of it.

Here is my Mule with a 125 gallon tank and sap sucker. When the tank is full, you need to be carefull as the rig is at or just above it's safe operating limits.
