View Full Version : Wine/beer hydrometer?

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but I've never used a hydrometer of any kind. I've just been going by temp and feel and I've been pretty darn lucky so far, but I wanna step it up a bit and start using a hydrometer.
My friend gave me a new (never used) hydrometer, but it's a wine/beer hydrometer and I was wondering if it would work?

i dont know if it will work or not, but i would just go buy a syrup hydrometer. they arnt that expensive.

I don't think so if it's like the ones I looked at last week. The brix scale probably doesn't go high enough.

You could check sap sugar content with that one, not that accurate with that big range scale though.
