we are having a problem filtering sap that is discharged from the releaser, we use a wire basket lined with some surpluss book binding material, at best it works just barely ok ,but commonly plugs up way to fast causing unwanted debris to enter the sap storage tank, what is the industry standard or what works well for others??? any input is very welcome!!!

Most dealers sell what they call a "snap on" fitler disc. It's just a flat piece of plastic with a hole in the middle that is threaded so you can
put on a hose insert fitting and connect it to your line. The filter bags are quite inexpensive. They snap on to the disc. They should be exchanged and washed ( get 2) every day because the microbes and bacteria will grow in the fabric, causing it to plug up.

I have a sheet of plywood covering my head tank. I just cut a small round hole to accept the snap on filters and they have a plastic ring sewn in the top so it
Can't fall through my hole and pump sap into it. But like someone already mentioned, get 2 I think the small ones I bought were only 6$ each and just pitch them at the end of the season.
