Just looked at my yard trees. 39 degrees with a good stiff wind. taps are dripping nice. should be a good next few days. What effect does wind have on the sap runs, if any? We seem to have our best runs with some wind.

I'd say wind might slow down production if it keeps the trees from warming enough inside where the sap runs. Thinking of the wind chill factor. I also just read an article somewhere about planting conifer windbreaks to protect maple trees from cold winds so the sap flows better.

Windy here, too, in central PA but the temp is only 32. Niothing running today yet. Please send some of that warm weather my way:)

Have a great season!

An old timer here in west Michigan says the sap dont run when the wind is out of the east. Anyone ever see that?
