Here is our new saphouse. We started with a poured floor and ended with a metal roof. Got so many ideas from reading this forum. We finished just in time for the 2012 season and have boiled 3 times so far. The layout seems functional and comfortable. We do have to put up a clothes line for drying the filters. So far so good and we're having a blast. Can't wait for more sap.

Wagner, it is beautiful! Looks perfect and bigger inside than the pic looked like outside.

Having a TV in to watch is huge. That's the one thing that can keep you boiling when you're ready to give up and go inside for the night. Figuring a way to keep it functional for the process and for you is the key to a nice setup. Kinda like a birthing room at the hospital ... ?? ... or not.

Graet job.....someday maybe.
How to people get power and running water to their shacks? Is is basically build it close to your home?
Maybe I need to post this as a separate topic??
Thanks.

I just string together 250' of extension cords, but I only run a few lights and an occasional vacuum cleaner. I just carry water down and put in in a metal bucket that rests against my stack. After an hour or so , it's warm enough to rinse out the prefilters.
