Just wondering how warm, open winters usually impact sap flow? On the coast here we were even warmer and had less snow than places inland.

It really comes down to the weather patterns during the sugaring season. Past conditions may play a part in determining sugar content and perhaps bud break. Volume is determined by the difference in pressure between the inside of a tree and the surrounding atmosphere. That pressure differential is set up by 24 hour temperature fluctuations and to a lesser extent by changes in barometric pressure.

No snow allows the trees to warm faster in the morning and keeps them warm longer in the evening. I think less snow results in a shorter season, thats just from my observations.

Observation. I'm finding my trees that are more in the woods are actually running, as little as that is, better than the ones in the open. Anyone else experiencing or experienced the same thing?
