Yesterday the high was 42 degrees and the sap was clear all day and untill we froze up at night. we froze hard and the first 10 gallons in the releaser came in cloudy this morning. Any explanation for this? I dont see how it could have been too warm.

How long you been tapped? Might be the bacteria of the trees trying to heal? Even cold the trees might not be frozen and trying to heal.
On rain days or some overcast days it can run cloudy too.

The reason for the cloudy sap first thing in the morning is because when it freezes the sap gets fozen solid in the lines and when it thaws out the next morning the slush and ice scrapes the inside of the tubing and any bacteria that is present in the lines gets flushed out.
