I put 68 taps in today. Weather has been fine for a few weeks but I chose to wait. Didn't want to take the chance on my taps drying up before the season is over. Added 18 taps down hill from my boiling point so I had to put a tank down there. Now I have to pump out that tank to a tank on the 4 wheeler. I bought a bilge pump to run off the wheeler, will see tomorrow if it can handle the head height. Weather here looks perfect for the next 5 days or so.

Wecome to the party! Are you able to take a picture of the bilge pump setup from your four wheeler to the tank and post? I'm guessing the bilge pump is 12 volt? I bought a gas powered "Pacific Hydro" 1" water pump from Harbor Freight with 200' of 3/4" discharge hose. Works way better than expected!

Mike, You are welcome anytime. I wanted to come up your place last week. I called and left a message but never heard from you. I wonder if I have the right number?

Cassel I will try to get a pic up this weekend of my bildge pump set up. Yes, it is 12 volts and works great. It pumps 5 gallons a minute and that is enough for my small setup.

Got 2 boils in this week and will be going at it again sometime this weekend, probably Sunday. Made the absolute lightest syrup I ever had. I put a dampner in my stack over the summer to try and get the stack temp down. Like everything else it didn't help. It cut my wood consuption down but stack temp still above 1,700 degrees. I guess I will just live with it as I am averaging 12 + gallons an hour including startup and shutdown.

Boiled 47 gallons down tonight and still have 25 or so left. Tomorrow should be a slammer. Was out of town today and got back late so I couldn't do it all. If they don't dry up early tomorrow I will be swimming in sap. Manitoba. I told you it wasn't over yet. Is your sap still clear? Mine is crystal.

Fired her up at 7:40 this evening. Boiled for 3 1/2 hours and drew off more syrup then any boil this year. Trees still running but I think the fat lady sings on Monday. I can't believe my last boil will be on March 12th.

Ran another 70 gallons tonight but I think I might be done. Didn't finish any yet, going to do it all at once. Can't believe I only had a 2 week season. I do believe that I made more syrup in the 2 week season that I had this year then I made all season last year. Did add more taps but wow!

Very strange year for sure. Long range is now hinting at a cold snap end of March???? Buds are tight now but after this week we'll have to see. By the looks of it commercial may even fetch a good price this year.

Came home from work to day and collected 15 more gallons of sap and they are still dripping but that's it. I boiled it down and drained the pan. Now comes cleanup and finishing.
