I drilled 46 taps this morning, which is about 50 percent. I cold wind was blowing and I was wondering what I was doing. After the sun came out sap started to run.

Because of my job I am done the third week of March so that made my decision for me.

I've had my 25 hobby taps here in Henry Co. out about two weeks. Had a couple of good boils and a couple of dry stretches ... syrup was very light colored. Was really surprised to see how well it ran yesterday.

Last week sap ran clear and fast, yesterday nada. But it was below freezing, cold and snowy, so it was what I expected. Today, bright sunny and warming up here in Mahoning county... but no sap yet.
