Today i decided to wash out my two zero tanks that i use in the woods, opened up the first one which has little lexan porthole windows in the covers i made so you can see the sap inside, icky as usual, got in with a scrub brush and cleaned it out and rinsed it. Went to my second tank i bought this year, opened the solid cover, ie no light getting in, and was amazed how clean it was, just a little sediment on the bottom and very slight scum on the walls where the waterline often is. This got me wondering if my windows are contributing to this issue of ickyness? or just coincidence?

Yes, it is helping a little bit. That is why pool covers, when in good condition, don't allow light through them. Try covering up the window or removing it, it should help.

Or..., by any chance do you have a pool with a good cover? No, no, on second thought, keep using the tanks...lol!
