Pretty quiet here, is anyone planning on tapping in this week? Looks like mid 30's for the Central Vt area. May do a couple of test taps ...

I tapped about 125 yesterday. 100 more to go. I'll finish tomorrow early in the morning. **** tree rats chewed everything in sight and I ended up fixing lines most of the day yesterday

I finally finished getting my old dairy pump built up with an oil flood system with a radiator core from an old heat pump.

We started tapping last week, 1700 done and 1300 to go , should be done by the end of the week. I know it seems a little early but by the time week are done we will only be a week to 10 day ahead of our normal time. Couple of other guys around me are all done and they will catch the 3-40 degree days this week.

Put in 130 after work yesterday. Hoping to get another couple hundred in today + a few repairs and new branch lines.

Still need to get the sugarhouse in order as I expect to be boiling by tomorrow at the latest.

I have gotten 5200 gallons of sap in the last two days. Things are going well and my vac is running 28 throughout the woods. I think the real sugaring will start in a few weeks here in northern Vermont.

I think the reason why i am getting 28 pounds of vac is because my whole system is brand new. The other reason might be because i have a 2 stage 100cfm vac pump. If a chipmunk bites into one of my laterals it will get sucked tight to the line waiting for me to shoot it.:lol: Looks like the sap is going to run well all next week here in Richford. I hope everyone has a great year.

Well, we started tapping yesterday and got some more done today (around a 1,000 done so far). We had pre-hung around 2,650 spouts on drops so we still have a ways to go. Once we get those done we found an additional 50-75 taps we can add by running some more laterals. After all the pipeline taps are in we'll start tapping the trees on buckets at my family's farm (up to around 900 buckets if we feel real ambitious). Still planning to boil on Wednesday.... hopefully.

Tapped in 35 trees on the 17th, should had had more, but ran out of my health taps and buckets. Will be getting more this week. It ran a bit, nothing spectacular, but the race is on. Expanded out the sugarshack and got the steel for the new pans. Will be collecting and building all this week. Biggest issue is lack of snow to keep the sap cold in. I nixed the big storage tank for now cause it will be sitting out in the open just getting warm. Glad it's started and great to hear everyone is having a good year so far !

We finished tapping the trees on pipeline yesterday. Today we cut in a few more drops and saddles and added an additional 20 taps on some nice 24 + inch trees that hadn't been tapped for years. We have some more drops to add in tomorrow morning which shouldn't take too long. We also got the vaccum pump and releaser going (pulling around 23.5 inches after my brother chased down some leaks) but the sap wasn't really running much at all when we left at 3 to head for work. We've been getting a lot of help from friends and family which has been great. Hopefully we'll get enough sap by tomorrow afternoon so we can do our first boil.

I tapped 95 today which are lines will tap 50 buckets this weekend. Considering how much damage I had from Irene I am shocked I still had 95 on lines left. But I rerooted several lines last fall and I can see that I can still pick up some more but will deal with that come summer. It is what it is at this point.

I am up to 6500 gallons of sap on 5000 taps and my sap is testing 1.9 for now. The next three days should be good I hope.

1.9% here too. Finished my 275 on tubing today. Vacuum pump is down for now, but it's flowing well on gravity today. I'll put out some buckets on friday or saturday.

Was on a 6 guy crew doing 17,000 taps up in the NEK and finished Monday, total of 6 days tapping. Sap ran Thurs and Friday at 1.8%. Locked up tight through Monday. My first ever sugaring experience.

I got 4000 gallons of sap yesterday and it was still running all night a bit. Woke up to 5 inches of wet snow and i'm hoping no limbs came down on the lines. Vacuum in the woods is 27.5 and sap is now testing at 2%

Just got about 2 feet of snow and had to plow my 1/2 mile driveway twice so far today. I'm sure glad I am all tapped in. I don't see anymore sap coming for a week or two. I can't wait for the big runs to come.

Well got dumped on and I am happy ! Used the snowblower to make some monster piles for the sap barrels so now I have my storage setup all setup where before it was sitting on bare ground. Woods aren't too bad and I even got the mainline installed for the dumpstations... those chinese finger trap things are very cool ! Looks like I have another week to work on the evap and pans, should be able to get it done now. It's looking like I will restart about the time I started last year ! Guess the old-timers who say tap after town meeting were right for us bucket guys !

My co workers and i finished tapping all 23000 two days ago, felt like we have been tapping forever. no major problems like last year. right after tapping we had an ice storm go through and it messed us up really bad. we have made 1000 gallons so far, real nice fancy. waiting for a good run to really tighten down the woods. everything is frozen up right now so i get to sit and wait until the sap runs. so glad to not have to drill any more holes

We finished tapping the trees on buckets today. We now have 2,880 on pipeline and around 900 on buckets (going to put up an additional 25 buckets or so around the house for the kids to help gather). Hopefully we get enough sap tomorrow to have our second boil of the year, wish us luck.

Have drawn off 6 Gallons so far made from sap collected before the big freeze and while tapping in. Up to 275 on tubing and 65 buckets. Will clean tanks tomorrow and get ready for some sap the next few days. Dark amber and grade b so far. The steam pans are almost dialed in. Burning used cooking oil.
