I would like to know if there is a formula to set up a motor that runs 1750 rpm to get it to run a pump 800 rpm?Also is it the bigger the pulley on the motor it has more power or smaller pulley has more power?

Usually you put the smaller pulley on the motor to reduce rpm's.

Hi Lee, how are you? The smaller pulley on the motor delivers more power. As you increase diameter it loses power but increases speed. Think of going smaller as gearing down, and downshifting means slower but more power. Pump speed divided by motor/engine speed equals the reduction. Pump pulley diameter multiplied by the reduction equals the engine pulley diameter. What is the diameter of the pump pulley? I hope this helps.

Yes thank you for the replies.I also googled it and found a site with the formula but I still needed to find out about the pulley on the motor for power.

Your motor pulley will be about 1/3 the size of the pump pulley .
