This is our first year with tubing and vacuum. Our bush is about 1000 feet from the nearest source of electricity. So we have a couple options. Either we run a generator, pouring about $20.00 to $30.00 of gasoline a day, or we stage the vacuum pump near our source of electricity, and run a vacuum line 1000 feet to our releaser. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. If our mainlines in the bush are 1 inch, does our supply line to our releaser need to be larger and if so how much larger? Do we need a booster tank before our releaser?

Based on feedback from others here and our distributer, we just ran an 1 1/2" dry line 1,400 feet to a releaser for about 1,500 taps.

We have the vacuum pumps near the sugar shack and the first split in the line is 900 feet away. With the valves closed the vac at the split is the same
as at the pump. From there it splits to go to 2 other releasers. One 300 feet and the other about 700 ft away. No problems. Just the pain of having to run
out and empty the 3 tanks. Looking seriously at running another 1" or 1-1/4" black line to pump back with a gas pump.

My vacuum pump is 1500' from my bush. I ran a 2" line under ground to my releaser. I also ran a 1" line to pump sap back along with a 10 2 electric line to run a submersible pump and a 1/2" pipe so I can mount a vacuum gauge at sugar house. I say your pipe should be the same size as the one going into your releaser or larger. You will not need a booster tank but will need a moister trap.

My releaser is 1600 feet away from my vacuum pump. I ran a 1.25" pipe from the pump to the releaser and it works good. I have two 3/4" mainlines and one 1" mainline off of the releaser about 3500" total.
I run 1.25" pipe under ground about 1600 feet to my releaser on 1100 taps. I think vac line size should be based on tap count not size of mainlines in woods. I also have a 1" buried with it to pump sap to sugarhouse.
