my 15yr old son and i finished tapping 900 taps sun feb 5. we boiled for the first time this year on tue. made 5 gal. boiled wed made 7 gal. this was the lightest syrup i have made. sap tested 2.0 so i am happy about that after last yrs 1.3-1.6 sap. i know the season is early this yr but i remember a yr back in the 90s that started out early and ended up one of the best years ever. hopefully it will be a good year this year! this is my first time ever posting so hopefully i make sense. 900 taps, 3x10 leader drop flue, 2x4 oil drum evaporator for my son on order.

hey plattmaple, good to see you posting here. we've made about 12 gallons so far this year. glad to see you got something going for your son. it's good to get kids involved in these kind of activities. just spent all day butchering with my son and 5yr old grandson.
