I remember seeing some posts about correct location for our new holes but can,t find them now.

Can someone tell me the proper distance away my new hole should be? Does it matter if the new hole is above or below the old hole?
Anything you can tell me is appreciated with this matter.

Thank-you.

Terry

I like to go 2 inches right or left, 2 inches above or below last years hole and work your way around the tree.

We always try to go at least 6 inches to the R/L and avoid tapping directly above or below a tap from the last couple of seasons but then we have some big trees to work with and only tap a handful at most of the ones that are tappable.

everyone has their own rules as to tapping but for me I try to stay 4 inches right to left and 8-12 inches above/below. and try to follow the patern around the trees from year to year.

I like to use the 12 o'clock 3, 6, 9 o'clock method around the tree and never closer than 5 or 6 inches beside a old hole. And never directly above or below a old hole.
