View Full Version : Ice in my bucket

I've been messing around with this syrup hobby for quite awhile , and have always wondered about the ice in my buckets. My question is should I toss it or should I take it back to the house and boil it down for syrup ? What do we think is it water or is it sap ?

it depends how big of a producer you are. i have 80 taps this year and i plan to throw the ice. if the ice is juston top it dosent take alot of the suar but up to about .5% i believe.

I keep the ice cause the it keeps the rest cold and I have seen most of the sugar in the bucket froze so i am tryin to make the most syrup I can so I don't.
