I am going to blame my five year old for this one :) She was distracting me when I was drilling. Didn't notice the tap hole had a sligh upward lean until I set the tap. Obviously gravity works and all the sap is flowing out the sides of the tap and down the tree no matter how I adjust the bucket. So what do I go guys? I hate to drill another hole. Thanks!

put a short section of tubing ( food grade ) on the tap running into bucket ?

Question....is the taphole going up as you go into the tree, or going down as you go into the tree?

Hi Dr. Tim. The taphole has a slight downhill lean toward the tree.

Hi Dr. Tim. The taphole has a slight downhill lean toward the tree.

I'll still run, but may be more prone to frost-heaving. I agree with SmokeyAmber....put a short piece of tubing on it to redirect the flow downward.

I have a piece cut and will install tomorrow. Thank you both for your input. Have a great evening!
