We tapped in NJ last week, the weathers been perfect. 20's- 30's and night and 40's- 50's+ during the day.

We got 30 taps on buckets between 2 properties.

I'm in the market for a new evaporator, I think we are going to limp along for this season with what we got and then build a 2x5 arch & pan over the summer and up production next season.

Tree's are running good. 1 gal per tap a day

Good Luck everybody

Where are you at? up the mountians? I am getting some sap from my sugar maples, but my white maples are almost bone dry. 5 sugars tapped, and 5 whites tapped and only 3 gallons since Sunday.

I'm in morris county, not too mountainous, but hilly i guess. loads of sugar maples around

I tapped a few norways years ago, they flowed great, tons of sap and they were running a lot longer then my sugars but... they had pretty much no sugar

It looks like its just anouther name for silver maple.

I'm only tapping 1 norway maple this year but last time I tested it was giving more sugar than my sugars. One thing that seems to be consistant about them at least is that they produce a good amount of sap.

Your doing well, only 5 gallons for the week. If it does not pick up I will not come near my hopeful goal of 2 gallons made this year.

What is going on in NJ

All of my trees have totally stopped, no buds, perfect weather, NO SAP!!!!!!

whats going on, last year I ran for another month.

I left the buckets for 3 days expecting a big pull with the nice weather, I got NOTHING.

anybody have a prognosis?

I tapped a few new trees to see if i did something wrong and they arnt flowing either?

I dont know whats going on?

120 taps in since feb 5 . Almost no sap in last 1 and a half days . Im in warren county . Most of the bigger guys here say we're done already . Sap is cloudy . makes very dark syrup . Highestsugar content was last sat. @ 1.9 on a mix of 50/50 sugar and reds . have made and sold almost 5 gallons this year . Seeing how I finally have an evaporator , I was hoping for a run like last year . Im sticking it out and will try for another week .

we had a little bit of flowage today, the buckets were about 1/2 full, might get a little boil in tomorrow

Appears to be over already in NJ . Sap is cloudy and very little running. Hoping with the low temp for next 2 nights we can boil 1 more time .

Im done, pulled the buckets off the trees. Worst year for me in 3 years of doing this. Ended the season with only 10oz of syrup. No snow, warm winter is my thought for the bad year.

yeah, I produced less than 1/2 of what I was expecting this season. I made more syrup last year with 1/2 as many taps

I will be pulling taps shortly
