my dad has decided its time for a new shed, over the next summer we plan on building about a 12x24 pole barn. we plan on running power to it. is this to small for a shack? i plan on having a 2x6 with 250+ taps, a counter or 2, canner, finisher, just storage for stuff. in the off season(and during the season to, just not as much) i would like to use the front half as a shed. putting an atv, lawn tractor, small kubota tractor in there, maybe my collection trailer. basically what do/should i need to know before we sart building it. like wall height, roof pitch, roofing material, sheathing, framing. etc. thanks

My shack that is almost done is 15x20 and in the next few years I would like to upgrade to a 2x8 I think eventually when I have 7 or 800 taps I will probably make an addition but I think for now even a 2x8 would fit ok

I started with a 12x24 with a 2x6. I now have a 16x50 and a 2.5x8. There is a wood shed on one end 10' long and a shed on the other 8'. That leaves 16x32 for everything else evaporator, syrup tanks/barrels, sap storage breakfast bar/ chairs. Plenty of room until 20 people show up and they all want to be in front of the evaporator.

So do you think that a 12x24 will be big enough? I plan to expan to may e a MAX of 400 taps of that. Maybe get a 2x8 or 2.5x8.

ya i think that is a good size i too hope to expand to the same size evap someday but i was thinking if you are going to build an evap why not make it a 2x8 or a 2.5x8

I chose the 2x6 just because of the stainless size I would need to make the pans. I would only need 2- rx8 sheets with a 2x6. My friend drives a race car so he has a break and his dad can weld it for me.
