How much vac should a delaval 75 produce before it causes damage to the pump. And how do you regulate the vac. thanks

I used to run mine at about 19". That was with a box fan blowing on it, but no oil reclaimer. It would run pretty hot, close to spit sizzle hot as Parker would say. Had a couple times where the vac regulator froze up and pump was running at 23-24", but would'nt want to do that for long.

I am no expert but my neighbour is and works on all old dairy pumps, etc. He tells me the 75 should not be run continuously much higher than 15. I have had mine up to 20 -22 but not for long, I usually run it about 14 which I hope extends the life of the ol' 75. I have a Zero vac tank which has an unused vac line with the original valve available and I crack the valve a little to set the right vac. I also use a small fan on the pump when the outside temps start to increase.
Works for me.

19 -20" on mine too with a box fan ...but yeah uses a lot of oil. Worked good till the releaser didn't release and slugged sap into it.....

Longbeard is right on when he says 15'' vac. I was told by the guys at the dairy supply not to push it past 15'' and it will work just fine.
