The Sap Suckers is what my kid and I named ourselves. He's seven what more can you ask for? I started tapping at noon yesterday. I put out 40 taps so far all sugar maples. Today afer collecting we came in with 47-48 gallons of sap, our best collection ever but last season we only had 12 taps. Our sugar content is between 2.75 and 3. We lit the fire tonight around 7 and the boil is on were (probably me) going to pull an all nighter of feeding firewood and sap. This is our first boil in our Redneck Sugar Shack. We started the boil off with some Maple Tea and a toast to the Sap Suckers. Well back to the shack to watch the Perfect Storm on my kids dvd player that should put him to sleep. Hope to be done by 6 am.
