have all my gravity lines and 15 jugs out now. I collected around 22 gallons today. Tapping another 15 or so on jugs and I'll be ready for the season. I was hoping to do a small boil tomorrow before the game. Let's see what I collect tomorrow.

Have fun and Happy Sugarin' :)

Yeah thinking I going to tap this week. I think we are outta the woods(no pun intended) for any really cold weather.

will tap this week in Durham, CT.
Update:
Tapped yesterday with 16 buckets and got 15 gallons in about 20 hours. I got very little today though. Need another 20 gallons to crank up the hobby evaporator. Hopefully that will happen before the cold hits. I may put out another 10 taps tomorrow.

My daughter does babysitting in Cheshire each day, she came home a few days ago and said, "Mom, there's this guy in Cheshire, he has all the blue lines up!" YOU. I have to visit school vaca week.

we look forward to having you. I just finished off almost 2 gallons of syrup. Today was a great run as well. Big boil coming up on Saturday. We are blessed to have all these sugar maples in my yard.

2.5 gallons of finished product so far. Considering that I would not even been operational until this coming week, I figure I am ahead of the game!

let's just hope that Mother Nature continues to cooperate...

No light amber this year....all Medium amber so far...sugar content is around 2%

I was mistaken in my sugar content. more like 1.6%. boiled down 110 gallons to make 2 gallons of syrup. Today's sap run only yielded 25 gallons.

Know what's worse than yellow snow? Yellow sap! Ugh. We might be done here but will finishing teaching this week and the Open House this Saturday. Want to come and volunteer to teach for a bit...you're more an expert on plastic pipeline than us!

Had to toss out a couple buckets of yellow sap this weekend. Looks like the reds are really startign to bud. I think the end is near for me. I want to get one more boild but not sure it is going to happen.

Forgive the newbie question, but what do you mean by "yellow Sap"? Like if you poured it in a clear glass bowl, you wouldnt be able to see-through-it-yellow, or just a yellowish hue? So far my Sap seemed to be clear in Seymour, but I have an un-trained eye.

Sugars have been running good. Been boiling for three days on and off. Tired and smokey. Just finished putting up a gallon. Out of wood. Time to pull the taps and start some tomato seedlings. First season was a blast and I learned so much from reading all your comments from your years of experience. Thanks for the ride. See you next season!

We are planning on pulling everything on Sunday. We will have made enough and with the forecast for next week it doesn't look promising.
