http://hartford.craigslist.org/grd/2823862898.html So I came across this and was wondering what everyone's thoughts were for using these for bulk storage in between boils. Thanks!

They would work, as long as they were never used to hold anything else- a non food product. We used barrels like that years ago for holding sap. Mine had Nestle Crunch Bar chocolate coating in them. Some was still in them, that way I knew they would be safe. See if there are any labels left on them, and see if they pass the smell test, literally- stick your head in them and smell. If you can faintly smell whatever was in them or better yet, have no smell at all, they will work. I would pass on them if they had onions or garlic or something that has a strong odor- the sap will have the same odor and flavor. Good luck this season.

Seems like a good price to me. Paying for the 275 gallon tote for me is not worth it since I do not have enough taps to justify it.
