View Full Version : New Here
My name is Steve, this is my first year at it. I got about 20 maples to tap, not sure I'm going to tap them all this year. A mix of Reds and Sugars.
I have 6 tapped now. Lots of great info here,Thanks! I am outside alot hunting, fishing and just being out, and this is a great way to keep the
grandsons outside and away from the video games. I can see this is going to cost me alot of money in the future. I'm looking forward to it! Surely I will have alot of questions.

Welcome Horn, what are you doing for an evaporator? That will probably dictate how many taps you can handle. I say tap them all if you have a block arch with catering pans, on a turkey fryer you will prolly wanna stay lower number of taps unless you have tone of patience.

Welcome to Maple Trader. I'm from South Central Pennsylvania. Where in South East Pennsylvania are you located? As GramaCindy stated this Maple Syrup activity becomes very addictive so be fore-warned. It's a lot of fun and your right just being outside makes it even better. Best of luck to you.
I am working on a crude arch now, but this warm weather i got ahead of myself and tapped some already. I will be using a turkey fryer for now. a friend of mine is making me 2 stainless pans 24x16x5. I'm in northern Lancaster co.
