We are working on an oil tank evaporator, and in looking at pictures of similar sized evaporators, I see that some have a ramp under the back pan while others just have a flat "shelf." Sorry if I'm not explaining it right. It seems that it would be easier to make it level, rather than at an angle, but I'm sure there is a reason for the angle... Could someone explain what the benefit of the angled ramp is, and if it's worth it for a (approximately) 2x4 evaporator... the fire box will take up about 2 feet so the ramp would be about 2 feet long. For this year we will be using 6 inch steam pans which will hang into the arch.
