I purchased this set of 2x6 pans and I'm not sure how everything fits together, mainly the float systems. I have attached a few pictures. Not sure if I have all the parts or maybe a few to many. If anyone has any ideas I would like to hear them.
Thanks

Look like my 2x6 G.H. Grimm. From what I see it is all there. you might even have a spare float box for the rear pan. These are english tin. My rear raised flue pan is still english tin just like your and it boils very nice. I updated the front finish pan to stainless. Do you have the arch?

I do have the arch just haven't put the pans on yet.
Kevin can you tell me how the float & float box works in
the rear pan. The two boxes in the pictures are different
one has only one opening but the second one has three
openings.

the box in the rear of flue pan is like a dist. box it fits in the inside rear of the flue pan and connects to the float box that mounts on the outside rear of flue pan, upper port. a pipe is connected to one of the ports, the other is pluged, on the dist. box this carrys the raw sap from the float box into dist. box out the pipe to the front of the flue pan.

Dean - sorry I didn't get right back to you. I don't have detailed drawings for Grimm like I thought I did, but with the pics you posted we can get this sorted out.
The side of the rig you have pictured is mostly complete from flue pan to syrup pan. Once the two pans are positioned on the arch, there should be a brass elbow that gets screwed onto the outlet pipe coming from the flue pan. One for each side. Then the z arm gets mounted in the flaot box and attached to the float. That connection I'm not 100% clear on - it's been about 25 years since I've messed with a z arm float. Small float for hot sap.
The float box for the flue pan mounts on the outside of the pan, near the rear of the pan, on the oppostie side of your drawoff. Some Grimm float boxes hung from the pan lip, some mounted with rubber hose connections. Large float for cold sap.
The distribution box is the smaller of the two boxes and has two outlets on the front and an inlet on the side that goes throught the side of the pan. It sets in the flue pan at the rear, and the long pipe pictured attaches to one outlet, and the other outlet gets plugged. The long box is the float box that gets mounted outside of the flue pan. Looks like the float box get mounted on the same side as is facing the camera.
You can reverse the flow of the rig by moving the hot sap float to the other side of the syrup pan, plugging the other side of the distribution box, and moving the distribution pipe to the other side of the distribution box (which would be the same side you are drawing off from). The valve from flue pan to syrup pan would then be closed on the drawoff side, and open on the float side.
Hope that helps.
