Syrup burning on sides of pan

This is my second season. During my final boil the syrup burns on the side of the pans. What is the best way to keep this from happening?

When you say your final boil...what does that mean, last for the night or the season? and do you clean your pans during the season at all so is it loaded up with niter??

Final Boil for the day. I clean my pans after each use.

Is your pan flat bottom or drop flue?

If it is flat bottom and the scorching is on the sides then I'd be looking for gaps between the firbrick and sides of the pan.
