test taps

punched a couple taps in my favorite yard tree just now. running decent enough. will take a sweetness reading tomorrow. if it is far enough above 2.O I may jump in fire up for the next 3 days or so with maybe 50 taps.. figure it will be a good way to debug my new rig.

looks like a decent run today. hard trees ran all night...softs just starting. this test is from a tree 15 feet from my house. my softs will dilute but it looks promising. high of 58 today! feels like March.

I am not tapped yet, will wait a little longer. Hope the new rig is working well if you got enough sap. If you have all 350 set you should have enough sap tonight or tomorrow. May run all night.

very good run last night and today. 52 taps and 85 gallons. broke my sap hydr already but yesterday it was 2.8. several buckets were overflowing with ants already!5241

looks like the early run is done here. got to know my pans a lot better. made over 2 gallons of pretty decent syrup. now gonna fine tune some stuff and install a blower.

Pretty sure everyone else is holding off here...I shut down and flushed my pans as I need to go out of town for 4 days this weekend. It was a good test for my new rig, found some things I need to do on it, mainly a small under fire blower.
