I just put up some new mainline black 100 psi Water line 1" and the sap has a plastic taste. Picked it up a TSC in 300' rolls and it was sealed on both ends. I am going to dump the sap and run a few gallons of water in from the top of the line. Any other recomendations? All told I have about 1000' in 3 sections.

makes me wonder what the quality of the plastic TSC really is. I know it is afforadable but is it worth while in the sugaring industry. I have never bought nay mainline from anything but a maple dealer. I now use Leader 30P mainline. It is so much easier to work with.

Allot of us, including myself, have TSC waterline/poly pipe hanging in our woods, and have never heard this complaint before. I think you'll be OK.

I spoke with a dealer in PA and he said I would be OK. I flushed the lines from the top with water and it took care of most of it. The next batch of syrup came out fine no off flavor or smell. I'm glad this didn't turn into a big event.

We were told by our dealer to dump the first 50 plus gallons of sap so that any odors, dirt, etc was removed.

I'm a little confused here. Did you boil the first sap and taste the plastic in the syrup? If it was only in the sap it should have gone away when it was boiled.

Does the pipe that you bought have NSF-PW stamped or printed on it somewhere? If not it isn't food grade and could be part of the problem.
