Anyone ever raised part of a 2x3 halfpint evaporater mabe the first 2 section then draw off and finish on gas?

by raised do you mean raised flue? you may be onto something.

i think it would be way easier to solder copper drop tubes

that would work to and actually get a better evaporation rate with the copper. i think if you put them in 2 sections you could get 20-30 of them.

What would You be hoping to achieve by doing it? As you know a half pint is a small continuous flow evaporator - usually with three dividers and four channels and a reservoir pan sitting on top acting like a sap preheater. You can always draw off near-syrup and finish on gas for better control. Guess I'm not following your line of thought. Be kind - I'm and old guy and it takes awhile --- lol -- Mike

It works the way it is but I was tring to boil faster.I only have 50 buckets and I made 10gal of syurp but I have seen how a raised flue really boils compaired to a flat pan.But mabe I just have to go BIGGER! Thaks for the help.

i have heard of people extending he arch and ading another pan. if thats an option.
