I am drawing up the plans for my new pans. These will dictate the arch build and also dictate any future pans on that arch. I would like to build the pans to a "standard" size, from all my research here it seems a two foot by frour, six, eight are all standards. My question is what are the true dimensions on say a 2x6 setup with a 2x4 back pan and 2x2 front pan. Are the pans 24"x60" and 24"x24" from side to side.

Also how tall should a drop-flue pans sides be ? I was planning for 12" on sides with a 24" backsplash by the flue.

Thanks for any info and I am now officially racing the clock on this build... :o

Anyone ? At this point I will go with 24" wide as standard width, making a 3ft drop and 2ft syrup pan.... time to fire up the welder.

I would make the drop flues 7 inches deep. The syrup pan should be 8 inches high on the sides at least and the flue pan should be at least 10 inches. I think thats what mine are. i would make it as big as possible because you will definentle not regret it. at this time conveinience is a factor too. make it easy to modify.

The common wisdom is to get the pan finished and then build the arch to fit, not to try them in parallel.

moeh1 I agree on the build the pan first idea... in principle. My limiting factor is the sugarshack.:( I can squeeze a 2x5, maybe a 2x6 at most. So I will be doing as you say and building the pan first, but may have to mock up the thing to see if it with the arch will fit in the shack. Of course the logical answer everyone will say now is.... build a bigger shack, but that ain't happening this season !!!

Rossells, thanks for the info on the drop flue and side heights, I was likely going a bit high and not doing it will give me more material for the dividers that I forgot about....
