I found an alum. nurse tank on running gear, it would make a nice collection setup to pull thru the woods. I know syrup will eat thru the turkey fryer pots [alum.] if left setting in them, will sap eat up an alum. tank, or have any adverse effects, or would it be ok for collecting in?

What is an aluminum nurse tank, never heard of that name? Aluminum is'nt generally reccomended for sugaring. However, a gathering tank probably would be alright- as long as the sap was emptied from it quickly upon returning. I would let the sap sit in it and/or use for a holding tank. Do you have running water with a garden hose where your unloading the sap? You should rinse the tank out after each gathering also- don't let that sap sit there either.

What was the nurse tank used for in the past? I rather doubt it is safe for food use now unless it is brand new.

It isn't a concern of what tank was used for, question was can sap be transported in alum. tank, try and stay on the relevence here. After thinking about it aren't some sap buckets made of alum. seems it should be alright, right?

Aluminum sap buckets work just fine. There are 100,000's of them that have been in use. A new aluminum tank should be ok as a transport tank.

Can def. tell your from a farming comunity. The term nurse tank is a tank made of any material mounted on some sort of a trailer used to transport liquid, usually water hauled from a fill station to a sprayer waiting in the field to spray crops.
